Career
Over a period of time from the mid 80's to present day, photographer Apurba Banerjee has created a rare collection of portraits of world famous renowned personalities and has specialized the niche concept of "available light photography" in Bengali theatre arenasduring the golden period of Bengal's cultural field. His photographs have been published in many of the world’s leading magazines & newspapers e.g. (..................).
He has directed and provided expert consulting on photography of many documentary projects of famous personalities. His works have become instrumental in the conservation efforts of feature photography &potraits. Mr. Banerjee has taken several lecture sessions in photography at several renowned institutionssuch as (..................).
In 1998, the Bengali premier theatre group,Bohurupee, organized a photographic exhibition, with photographstaken by Apurba Banerjee& Nemai Ghose with some others. His work has been exhibited and published both in India & around the world. He brought a boldindividualistic sensibility, with the help of which he soon became one of the most famous photographic talent of our country. He has the largest personal collection of pictures of dancers, musicians, performers and renowned cultural personalities to his credit.
Apurba has won many honours’ & recognition for his photography. Bohurupee, the famous name in theatre world, published a book by the theatre, called"Photographs" on the occasion of their 60 years'anniversary. Here one famous name mentioned is that of Apurba Banerjee. His rare photographs of ‘Satyajit Roy with ‘Marshal Marshow,’ is preserved at the Satyajit Roy Archive at Nandan Film Center, Kolkata.
